Hello Josh,
I am currently facilitating a discipleship training class at our church (Red House Baptist, Richmond, KY) using Philip and Ed's Compelled by Love. You're right - it is an excellent book and study guide. Yours is one of the few posts I can find on Lake Ridge Church. Do they not have a website yet? Just wondering...
                     Thanks,
                     Bart Davidson

It is great to hear that God opened up a door to serve at a church for you! I am excited to see what God uses you to do in the lives of the students in Gadsden. May God continue to bless you and your ministry!

I may not be a "Kids Minister," but I am a mom of a five year old girl. I find that getting on her "level" - literally bending down, eye to eye, when speaking to her - really helps when trying to get a message across. However, a group of kids could be another story...let me know how that works out for you ;)

I just think it is important that we take their mindset into account. Jesus approached different people in different ways, but he always met them where they were. The main thing is that we rememeber no matter where they are in their journey its ultimately about pointing them to Jesus. All of us have the same problem...sin. Ultimately its about getting them to see their sin as God sees it and communicating the forgiveness that can be found in Christ. I think if we keep our conversation Jesus saturated and Bible saturated then we ar on the right track.

Guilty here! I either forget or remember to the point of "over doing it" with people who are where I was at one point. I find I either say too little or say too much. How do you know when and what to say?
