November 6-8 I had the opportunity to preach at the “Something Big” DNOW at First Baptist Norfolk, Va.  It was quite possibly the most well organized event of its type I have ever been a part of.  Steve Browning and his wife Beth and the team there at FBC did a fantastic job with the event and their hard work was evident.

The theme of the event was “Something Big” and each corporate worship service had a specific theme.  Thursday night we did a pre-rally and I preached on personal holiness and how great revival tends to take place when God’s people repent of sin and seek His face.  Friday night was aimed at proclaiming the Gospel and the theme was “Big Love.”  The crew at FBC did a great job putting together a video to lead into the the theme and I preached our of the first 5 chapters of Romans on just how amazing it is that God chooses to love us.  Saturday morning was themed “Big World” and I preached out 2 Corinthians 5 on being ambassadors for Christ and proclaiming to the world how they can be reconciled to God.  Saturday night was our last DNOW service and it was themed “Big Mission” and I preached out of Dueteronomy 6.  The theme was aimed at our purpose and mission in this life of glorifying God.  Out of Dueteronomy 6 I preached on how in the Old Testament God warned his people to avoid idolatry at all costs and how that warning still exists for us today.

It was a great weekend and we had the privilege of seeing God do some really cool things in the lives of students.  Patrick Willis and the band did a fantastic job of leading us in worship and the whole DNOW team was great to work with.  I pray God continues to pour out his blessings on FBC Norfolk and continues to use Steve and Beth in that dynamic student ministry.
