I would like to take a minute to mention some events in the past couple of months I had the privilege to be a part of. In August we wrapped up Dive for the summer. The student ministers in the Warrior/Hayden area that took part brought in a couple of bands and had a big back to school concert. It was probably our highest attendance of the series and I pray God continues to bless the efforts of those churches in that area.
Last month I joined Ed Newton, Sammy Nuckolls, and Philadelphia to speak at a student conference hosted by Kirby Woods Baptist Church and Josh Shirley in Memphis, TN. The theme of the conference was “Follow Me” and focused simply on what it means to be a follower of Christ and what that looks like bibilically. It was great to get to minister with those guys and reconnect with the Josh and those at Kirby Woods. I believe God was really at work at the conference and the teaching sessions seemed to flow really well as Ed, Sammy, and I each spoke twice over the course of the weekend. A big “thank you” to Kirby Woods and the other churches that attended the conference for allowing me to be a part.
Last week I had the opportunity to share an event with Kevin Derryberry in Huntsville, AL. Shawn Reed and the folks at Morningside Baptist did a great job of creating an atmosphere condusive to the teaching of God’s Word. The students were plugged in and God moved. It was also great to reconnect with Kevin since we had not worked together since my days at Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association.
This weekend I am off to Hartselle, AL to preach Saturday night and twice on Sunday at a student event for Larry Long. Larry is another guy that I haven’t gotten to connect with since my days at SDEA and I am looking forward to what God will in our midst. Please pray if you read this over the weekend that God would rescue lost students and would empower believers for the glory of His name.
