Super Sunday

This past Sunday I had the opportunity to watch one of the more exciting Super Bowl games in history, but even better than that I was afforded the opportunity to engage a group of teenagers with the life changing message of Jesus Christ. It was great to partner in ministry with the people at Red Bank Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN to see lives impacted for God’s glory. Many students, parents, and volunteers joined us in the gym at RBC to watch the game, stuff our faces, and have a great time. This event was geared specifically for believers to invite their friends that did not know Christ so they could be exposed to the gospel. We had an extended halftime with a few worship songs and then I had the opportunity to speak.

I must admit deciding what to speak on at an event in which I was replacing the Super Bowl halftime and some of the third quarter was a little intimidating!  Since this was an evangelistic event we tackled the subject of the seriousness of our sin and our desperate need for someone to “rescue” or “save” us from the wrath of a holy God and how only Jesus Christ has that ability. We talked about the word “saved” and how it is mostly a church term but how it is important to understand it is also a Bible word and a very accurate one in describing what happens at converson. God used the message of the cross as He has been doing for the last 2,000 plus years to reach many students. We saw several students respond to their need to be rescued from their sin and from God’s wrath. It was awesome. Thank you to Red Bank Baptist Church and their pastor Dr. Adam Dooley along with his staff for loving students and for allowing me the honor to partner with them in proclaiming Jesus as the only way to peace with the Father.
